How do I know it's time to go to therapy?

I hear this question all the time.

Therapy can be helpful for anyone experiencing symptoms of anxiety, overwhelm, stress, relationship challenges, and more. If you’re struggling to get through the day or frequently feel stressed and overwhelmed, therapy might be the right move for you.

Perhaps you have anxiety that gets in the way of living the life you want to be living. Therapy provides you with coping skills to manage whatever mental health challenges you’re experiencing. In therapy, you’ll have a nonjudgmental space to process your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

How do I start therapy?

First, you’ll set up a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Then in our first session, we’ll do an intake – I’ll ask you questions about your history and what brings you into therapy. After that initial session, we’ll identify what you want to work on and how I can help you. It may take some time to get fully comfortable in therapy to explore your challenges,

What is the cost of therapy?

My rate is $250 for a 45 minute session. I believe therapy should be accessible and affordable to everyone regardless of financial status and reserve a number of sliding scale appointment times. Please ask about my current sliding scale availability when you reach out. All sliding scale slots are full at this time.

How often do I need to go to therapy?

I see clients weekly. Having a consistent, weekly schedule allows us to spend time on the things that pop up throughout the week. Weekly sessions give us the opportunity to process your mental health challenges without trying to cram too much into a 45 minute session.

Do you take insurance?

I don’t take insurance, I’m an out-of-network provider. I offer reimbursement forms, or superbills, at the end of the month for to you submit to your insurance company. To learn about your out-of-network benefits, call your insurance company. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have.

How long will I be in therapy?

How long a person is in therapy is different for everyone.  It can take some time to really get to know each other and process your mental health challenges.  Some people attend therapy for a year, some go to therapy for many years. Others go to therapy for a while, leave when they’re ready, and then come back if they need to. It all depends on each individual person.

What is your cancelation policy?

We will find an appointment time that will work with your schedule on a weekly basis.  Occasional reschedules may come up and I will do my best to accommodate them. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid full charge. I prefer not to charge for missed sessions and I will work with you to reschedule if possible.
